The Practice of Allyship…

can be a lot to take on by yourself. This workshop will let you explore your practice in the hands of space holders, who want to see you succeed, and other students, who are in the trenches exploring with you.

If you are looking for guidance, support, and a space to just breathe while discovering, this is the workshop for you.

Remember no matter how small, a step towards change is still a step towards change.

WHAT

  • A 4 week course on defining a new path to allyship as an artist

  • A Slack channel, where resources and tools will be shared

  • A Guest Lecturer discussing their own path with allyship

WHEN

  • Every Wednesday from December 2nd - 30th from 1 - 2:30 pm EST

  • No Class on December 23rd

WHERE

  • In a Zoom Room near you

What to Expect?

We will go through some simple conversations about what it means to be an ally and continue our work from there. By discussing strategies of allyship, our goal is to unpack where we are as a society and move forward to create a better reality.

You also get:

  • Daily Questions to foster conversations about allyship

  • A community filled with other like-minded change makers

  • Space to speak up when you are unsure

  • And freedom to get it wrong (This is a learning space after all.)

Your Space Holders

Christina Peña

Christina Peña

Head Space Holder

Christina Peña (she/her) is a one-of-a-kind multi-hyphenate. As a Plus Sized Mixed Race Latinx Female Identifying Human, she leads with empathy and vulnerability in the world of inclusion. She believes that through telling stories, we can shed light on our flaws as a society and start to rebuild. She believes in putting the work in so that young brown girls like her feel welcome to the new table of equality. This is a lifelong change we are working on here, it will take time and that is okay.

Jorge Guerra

Jorge Guerra

Guest Lecturer

Jorge Guerra (he/him) is a gay Latinx Male Identifying Human. His purpose in life is to build an inviting community so that others can see open doors and discover the courage to go through them. By continual mindfulness and self-awareness practice, Jorge leads a space with detailed persistence and encouragement to disarm others to the possibility of community. In our path to inclusion and equity, he will operate with his 80/20 rule: Walk in with 80% understanding while leaving room for 20% continual growth, but holding ourselves 100% accountable over our actions.

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
